Within the Military and Veteran culture, the stigma of asking for help and support is still strong and it may be difficult to feel connected to people who have no knowledge of the culture and the concept of the positions you were in. We understand that the unique values and aspects of this culture is vital in providing you superior support.
War involves a wide range of violent and traumatic experiences that can lead to several conditions like:
- Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD)
- Depression
- Anxiety
- Post-Traumatic Injury
- Substance Abuse
Common signs of these conditions include:
- Depersonalization
- Self-idealizations
- Struggles
- Impulse disorders
- Struggling with an evolving world view
- Strained relationships
- Struggling with life transitions
These conditions are normal reactions to abnormal situations but it is important to know that symptoms can be decreased and supported with proper treatment.
How can Roots help us?
The Military and Veteran program focuses on bringing cultural competency to therapy and therapeutic approaches for this special population.
- We offer mental health exclusive or co-occurring disorders treatments at varying levels of care—PHP, IOP, and OP.
- Clients can also find relief from both group or individual therapy. Group therapy includes the Trauma Psychoeducation Group, ACT, CBT, and Buddhist Psychology and Mindfulness Groups; while, individual therapy includes, but is not limited to EMDR, Prolonged Exposure Therapy, Cognitive Processing Therapy, and trauma-focused CBT. Our Individual Therapy sessions also take a client-centered approach to really focus on the individual needs of each client.
- We also offer a chronic pain program that can help support your healing from the mental health struggles, chronic pain, life transitions, and provide support for spouses and family.
Whether active duty, National Guard, Reserves, or Veteran we are here to provide you with the support that you have already more than earned. It is our pleasure to serve those who have served.
