We understand that navigating society as a member of the LGBTQ+ community can result in other important parts of you being overlooked. You may be coming in specifically to work on struggles related to your sexuality and/or gender identity, our staff understands that these are just aspects of your life.
Healing from mental health, trauma, and/or substance abuse involves more than just your sexuality and/or gender identity. You deserve to experience recovery in a space where you feel completely seen and heard. It is our duty as clinicians to honor and respect your entire life experiences. Our emphasis at Roots is focused on healing the pains of our minds, bodies, and hearts from past experiences of trauma related or unrelated to our sexual and gender identities.
How can Roots help us?
The purpose of this program is to help each client’s whole life experience to be acknowledged, validated, and accepted. We offer individual and group therapy sessions, where our therapists are trauma-focused and all are trained in EMDR. Individual therapy will allow you to explore the parts of your life that are creating impairment; while, group therapy consists of gender and sexually diverse individuals who seek assistance for substance abuse, mental health, chronic pain, and trauma. Lastly, we offer physical therapy services for our gender-diverse individuals who experience chronic pain or are looking for help pre-operatively or post-operatively for bottom and top surgeries.
