Tim is a licensed clinical social worker with extensive experience delivering evidence-based mental health treatment to adolescents, adults, and families. Before joining Roots Through Recovery, Tim was part of Columbia University Irving Medical Center’s outpatient psychiatry program in New York City, where he provided individual, family, and group psychotherapy utilizing Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT).
Tim is intensively trained in DBT through the Behavioral Tech Institute and served as a clinician within Columbia University Irving Medical Center’s DBT-Linehan Board Certified Program™, where he delivered an adherent comprehensive DBT treatment that included individual therapy, skills training, phone coaching, and weekly consultation with a multidisciplinary team. With the DBT team at Columbia, Tim supported high-acuity clients struggling with chronic self-harm, suicidality, and significant emotion dysregulation challenges.
Additional to third-wave behavioral interventions, Tim provides trauma treatment utilizing modalities such as Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Brainspotting.
Tim approaches treatment from a functional contextual perspective, focusing on understanding each individual within their unique experience with nuance and applying pragmatic interventions tailored to their specific needs towards a workable path forward.
At Roots Through Recovery, Tim works with his clients trans-diagnostically, providing individual and group therapy for challenges related to anxiety, depression, mood, trauma, and addiction.
