Bill Woodbury is a CCAPP/CADCII and ICADC who has worked in the field of Chemical Dependency since 1988. He has held many different positions throughout the years, both in for profit as well as non-profit settings. He was an Interventionist in private practice for many years while working as a Primary Counselor and Program Director for the SHARE UNIT at St. Luke’s Medical Center in Pasadena and in the late 90’s became part owner in the SHARE UNIT, overseeing the transition from a corporate-owned hospital program to a privately-owned residential treatment center. In 2003 he sold his interest in the SHARE Unit and became the Resource Call Center Coordinator and Associate Program Director for the Little Company of Mary/ Peninsula Recovery Center in San Pedro from 2003 to 2005. He went on to serve as the Program Director at New Found Life in Long Beach for 10 years, leaving that position in mid-2015 to start Bridging the Recovery Gap as well as devote the time needed to write Enable-ism with his wife and co-author, Linda Woodbury. Over the years Bill has developed numerous community educational lectures, designed continuing various education workshops for counselors as well as been a frequent presenter at CCAPP/CADC conferences. He has taught at several private institutions training future counselors in addition to teaching a variety of courses at Glendale Community College as well as developing and teaching courses in Criminal Behavior and Chemical Dependency at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles.  Additionally, he serves as an educational consultant and equine assisted counselor for treatment centers throughout the Greater Los Angeles/Orange County area in both for profit and non-profit settings. Together, Bill and Linda facilitate workshops in various formats based on the principles of their book Enable-ism, Bridging the Recovery Gap Between the Family and the Addict. While the book is specifically geared towards educating and equipping the family members of chemically dependent emerging adults, it has broad application to all families affected by addiction, assisting in navigating the various transitions present in the first year of recovery.
