Terrence Lau
Primary Therapist
I am a psychotherapist (AMFT) who graduated from the University of the West with a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy with an emphasis in Buddhist Psychology. My recent clinical experience has been honed at the Los Angeles Center for Drug and Alcohol Abuse, Partnerships to Uplift Communities, and The Peacock Foundation, where I served the diverse populations of Los Angeles in the company of exceptionally skilled colleagues. I combine my personal experience and professional knowledge to create a safe and encouraging environment for clients to grow, process, and gain insight.
I am an LGBTQA+ affirmative, trauma-informed therapist who has worked in the mental health field for nearly 20 years. In addition to helping individuals overcome their difficulties with depression, anxiety, and PTSD, etc., I specialize in supporting LGBTQA+ (lesbian, gay, bi, trans, queer, agender/ace +) individuals as they explore their identies in addition to treating co-occurring disorders. I am trained in trauma focused CBT, DBT, ACT, EFT for couples and mindfulness based stress reduction.
I am grounded in a recovery-oriented practice, treating the whole person and not the dysfunction.
