Sam Weiss, LCSW
Primary Therapist
Specialties: LGBTQ, Trauma
Sam Weiss is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who received his Masters degree in Social Work from the University of Southern California. Sam is also an LGBT-affirmative therapist who identifies as trans-masculine non-binary. Sam specialized in Clinical Social Work while attending school and is trained in motivational interviewing, cognitive behavioral therapy, EMDR, and solution-focused therapy. He utilizes these techniques to assist clients who suffer from addiction and helps them cultivate motivation to achieve long-term sobriety. Additionally, he uses a family/social systems approach to help clients better understand their addiction and the impact it has on those around them. Sam believes that one of the keys to sustained sobriety is self-esteem, and he uses strengths-based techniques to help clients regain confidence within themselves.
Since graduation, Sam spent two years working in a residential facility for individuals who suffer from chronic substance abuse. While there, he facilitated a mental health psychoeducation group, a relationship and healthy boundaries group, and relapse prevention groups. He also conducted individual therapy sessions on a daily basis utilizing the techniques that he learned in school. Sam believes in honoring the client’s unique experience and therefore emphasizes creating individualized treatment plans with achievable goals. Sam has a natural gift of empathy and compassion that allows him to create a strong therapeutic rapport with his clients as well as provide a safe space for them to explore and process their emotions.
Sam received his LCSW in 2018 and looks forward to continuing his education and training to aid those who are in need of mental, spiritual and emotional support.
